You Are Chirping Birds |
You are a very caring person. You especially feel for innocent beings, like animals and children. You are keyed in to the world and very peaceful. You believe that everyone is connected. You remain focused and in the moment. You are not easily distracted. You have a good memory, especially for things that you hear. You listen carefully. |

What Part of Spring Are You?
Saturday, March 21, 2009
It's been a long time coming. . .
June 28, 2009 will be the one year anniversary of the commissioning of my STARFLEET, The International Star Trek Fan Association, Inc. chapter, USS Vre'kasht NCC-33187.
Back in 2003, when I joined STARFLEET (SFI), I had no desire to start my own chapter. I was happy being a cog in someone else's dream. Being a department head was as much responsibility as I wanted.
Now, here it is, two ships and six years later and I'm the captain of my very own ship getting ready to celebrate one year of full chapter status.
Of the five members we had when we launched on September 22, 2007 for our "shake down" cruise, only three of us remain. The XO, Chief of Security, and me, your humble captain. We do have a total of sixteen members right now. We only need ten to retain our deployed status with SFI. I expect one member to let her membership lapse when it expires in April. She has never attended a meeting and hold no position on board, so it won't be a huge impact to ship function when she goes. I hate to lose any members, but I can't force them to stay or to participate. We do have a good, active core group of members. Our ship's doctor seems to be our newest active member. He has only missed one meeting since he joined, and that was because he didn't realize we met every Friday night. He hasn't missed a meeting since.
Let's see where the ride ends.
